IMAX x Compartés

One of the first projects I was tasked with on IMAX was to design the packaging for two chocolate bars created in partnership with Compartés for IMAX's popular Christmas merch.

The two bars were a stark contrast of one another: a milk chocolate bar with rainbow sprinkles, potato chips, and caramel popcorn, and a dark chocolate bar with sea salt. We used each to tell a unique story about IMAX.

The "everything bar" speaks to IMAX's immersion through industry-leading technology from its bespoke theaters and sound systems to its larger-than-life screens. The design uses the aspect ratio of their largest 70mm screens inviting you to get lost in the captivating spiral of IMAX blues and white.

The "nothing bar" leans into IMAX's history and the lengths it continues to go to captivate audiences. IMAX cameras have captured the extreme depths of the ocean, the vast vacuum of space, and everything in between in incredible detail. For this design, I incorporated a 70mm frame from IMAX's first space film and layered abstract IMAX blue shapes drawing similarities to the nebulae that give birth to new stars.

Thomas' - Cranny Fortune Teller

Thomas' English Muffins are synonymous with Nooks and Crannies.

We took this beloved texture and encouraged consumers to give their own Thomas' English Muffin a second look with our Instagram Filter. Users would hold up the inside of an English Muffin to their phone's camera, have the Nooks and Crannies scanned, and receive a fun fortune to start their day.

David Sunflower Seeds (Student Work)

People like avoiding stuff. Sunflower seeds help that.

This is a portion of a project my roommate and I did on a whim while attending Brandcenter.

With no monies, few resources, and a couple weeks to bring it to life, I came up with the idea of creating whimsical illustrations and a cell animated spot. The style compliments the playful nature of sunflower seeds while also allowing us to run wild with ideas.

In addition to the spot, we developed a couple print ads and had some fun with digital and experiential work. My personal favorite was the world's first virtual sunflower seed spitting experience through a microsite. Now seedheads (I just coined that) can have a welcome distraction no matter where they are! Visitors to the site can even download activities like Seedy Sammy or the Official David Sunflower Seeds Conference Call Spittoon.

Wongdoody! - Mangle

When your agency's named Wongdoody, people are gunna have a hard time.

To play off this, Wongdoody's old website featured a clickable exclamation point that would pull up a random "mangle" or mispronunciation of their name. Each variation came in the form of a 6-second promotional spoof ad.

Here's one I made while interning for them.
